A Letter from the Meet Director
Hello Coaches, Teams and Families,
Since there are currently no state or local mandates affecting the GWCC in place, we believe that is the responsibility of each person in attendance to make the best judgement for themselves as to whether or not to attend based on the information provided as well as whether to mask up or not.
As the GWCC and state do not currently have any mask mandates in place, we will not be requiring masks but do encourage you and your families to wear a mask if that is what’s best for you. Just know that you may or may not be sitting beside someone who may or may not be wearing a mask.
Covid Guidance:
Per USAG, meet host are encouraged to adhere to local city, county and state guidelines in regards to mass gatherings and sporting events. Currently, all mandates regarding masks and mass gatherings have expired at the GWCC. You may read the guidelines per the CDC here in regards to mass gatherings: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your- health/gatherings.html
Spectator Limit:
At this years event, there will be NO LIMIT on spectators. Many sessions are full and could have anywhere from 200-400 spectators attending in each of the three gyms. If you are uncomfortable sitting in a crowd this large, please take this into consideration
Social Distancing:
The staff WILL NOT be assigning seats or monitoring social distancing.
If you are uncomfortable sitting among a large crowd, please take this into consideration.
Sanitizing:
We encourage everyone to keep hands clean in and out of the competition areas. There will be ample opportunities both on the competition floor, in the lobby and restrooms for spectators, athletes, coaches and staff to sanitize hands with both soap and hand sanitizer.
We will be cleaning/sanitizing the spectator viewing, competition area and awards area after each session.
Masks:
Masks are not required. Please refer to the section above regarding recommendations on wearing a mask indoors. We encourage you to make your own decision regarding a mask.
What to do if you are sick:
If you are exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 we would ask that you do not attend. For further information in what to do if you are sick, please click the CDC link here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html
CONCESSIONS:
The GWCC will have a variety of concessions available during the competition. These vendors will be operating on a cashless basis, accepting only credit and debit cards for purchase.
Due to guidelines currently in place and to avoid crowding, unfortunately, there can be no coaches hospitality/buffet this year. A variety of snacks & drinks will be available, near the head table as always, just please be mindful that the GWCC does not permit US to bring in outside food, so we don’t know where you got the snacks from :) Also, we have complied a list of gyms that are in 3 sessions in a row. Coaches on that list can come to the head table for a concessions concession. YOU ARE also permitted to bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks.
USA GYMNASTICS GUIDELINES:
Meet Directors Have the Authority:
To enforce and require measures that will provide participates a safe event environment. Specifically, meet directors have the authority to:
Remove and/or disqualify any participants; clubs, coaches, athletes, judges, other sanctioned event staff and spectators who fail or refuse to comply with local ordinances, such as non-compliance of facial covering and/or social distancing mandates.
Eliminate and/or reduce the number of spectators in order to maintain the appropriate social distancing protocol.
Require the use of a facial covering and social distancing protocols throughout the duration of a USA Gymnastics Sanctioned event, even in the absence of such mandates in the state or local area.
.
REMEMBER:
We all need to play by the rules now so these gymnasts can enjoy the fruits of their hard work in the gym and have a full and rewarding season that actually lasts through state and regional championships!
Please distribute this info to your parents so they understand the rules and can be prepared.
Thank You,
Sharon Kelly
